VISITING PUMC

We know that venturing out to a new church to worship for the first time can be daunting. With this “visitor’s kit” we have tried to identify and answer most of the questions that first time guests might have.

What is similar in the worship services?
Both of our traditional and contemporary worship styles contain the same theme and message, so there’s no need to worry about missing something. You can worship every Sunday in the way that’s most comfortable for you…or mix it up and try both styles! Each worship celebration features inspiring music, prayers, a dedicated time for the children, and a sermon that challenges the intellect and warms the hear.

What is different?
Music is a big part of our services, and we have many talented individuals who share their gifts through music. At the 8:30 am worship service, you will be invited to sing along with traditional hymns with the organ and piano. The bell choir and other musicians perform as scheduled. This service is quieter and more reflective. During our 7:00 pm “Alive” worship service, our band leads the crowd with popular Contemporary Christian rock music. This service is more upbeat and energetic.

How will I know what to do?
We strive to make sure our guests feel welcome and cared for. This means making sure you know where things are, and exactly what to expect on a Sunday morning. We do this through: on-screen announcements, bulletins, signage, and smiling, helpful faces throughout the building.

What should I wear?
You will not be judged by your appearance. Some of our Sunday crowd arrives in jeans, some like to wear a dress, a suit or khakis. Wear whatever is most comfortable for you.

​What do I do with my kids?
We are a family church. Children are always welcome in worship, in fact we love having them here! There are activity bags in the back to take to your seat, and there is a kids table with crafts for kids who need to get up.

That’s great and all, but is there food?
Of course! We serve coffee and snacks in the lobby all morning!
